What’s Happening Around the Swamp

Gator families, we have a busy and exciting season at Ella Banks Junior High! This week we celebrated our students as they completed their first round of MAP testing, and we are already looking ahead to progress reports coming soon. We’re also thrilled to welcome grandparents for our very first Grandparents Day Breakfast and to cheer on our athletes at the first Gator scrimmage. Along with these exciting events, this newsletter includes important updates you won’t want to miss—new clubs and organizations for students, key dates to mark on your calendar, and reminders about our policies, including that parking in the Banks or Tomas lots, or along surrounding streets, is prohibited. Please read carefully so you don’t miss a single detail as we continue to build something special together at The Swamp!

Clubs and Organizations

MSA

Join MSA!

Parents, is your child interested in joining a community that celebrates culture, faith, and friendship?

We’re starting a Muslim Student Association (MSA) at Banks! - a welcoming space for Muslim students and allies to connect, learn, and grow together.

Whether your child wants to help organize events, learn more about Islamic culture, or simply be part of a supportive group, we’d love to hear from from them!

📌 Interested?
Students, fill out this quick Interest Form to let us know! Your input will help us shape the club and plan our first meeting.

🧠 What to Expect:
  • Cultural celebrations (like Eid and Ramadan)
  • Group discussions and guest speakers
  • Community service projects
  • Fun social events
Let’s build something meaningful together!

For questions, contact Mrs. Bass at jonquil.bass@lcisd.org or students can stop by classroom C115.
